Miyamoto Musashi's two-sword technique. Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu is a two-sword Japanese martial art founded by the famous samurai, Miyamoto Musashi. Differently from other styles, which attribute their style techniques to divine inspiration, Niten Ichi Ryu techniques are the direct result of combat experience by Musashi Sensei. They are the same techniques he used in over 60 duels, all of which he won.

There are 12 daito techniques, uchidachi always starts in hasso: Hasso is 30 degrees up, with the left index at the corner of the mouth and the right niten ichi ryu techniques at the tip of the ear, elbows sticking out horizontally. Wakigamae with the daito is taken as follows; from chudan, the sword is raised in jodan and the left foot is put forward. Then the right foot is drawn backwards and the sword is lowered to waki, the stance is very deep, with the knees pointing in the same direction as the feet.

The right foot points to the right, not to the front, weight is evenly distributed over both feet. This stance is called koshimi. Another possible stance is moji gamae, short for Mojiri gamae.

He at first refused to teach and sent what he had received to Musashi's adopted son, Iori. Iori refused the succession, since the honor had not been bestowed upon him.

With this, Kyumanosuke then agreed to take over as head—both his and Iori's actions were manifestations of their respect for Musashi. Kata practice, in Niten Institute, is complimented with Bogu training protection equipment and Shinai bamboo sword.

This practice aims at using the style's postures and techniques in combat, bringing great benefits, as niten ichi ryu techniques better understanding for students of the techniques dynamics: Correct distance, timing, strong and weak points of every posture.
